Privacy Notice
Last updated 11 August 2026
Little Log is operated by Ian Mackovski, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. This notice explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Account data — your display name, email address and login credentials (passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider, never in plain text).
- Family and baby data — the family and baby names you enter, birth date, birth measurements, and the log entries you create: feeds, sleep, diapers, baths, firsts, growth measurements, appointments and doctor questions, and any free-text notes.
- Parent wellbeing data — your meals, wellness entries, your own sleep, and daily check-in ratings and notes. This can include information about your health and mood, which is sensitive, so we treat it accordingly and never share it outside your family.
- Support messages — anything you send us by email.
- Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, and basic usage and error logs generated when you use the app.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To create your account and provide the service you asked for, including computing your charts and summaries and, when you tap the button, generating AI summaries and insights — performance of our contract with you. Where the data is health-related, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent, given by choosing to enter it; you can withdraw it by deleting the entries or your data.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse and fraud — legitimate interests.
- To fix bugs and improve the product using aggregated or error-level information — legitimate interests.
- To respond to your support requests — contract / legitimate interests.
- To meet accounting, tax and other legal obligations — legal obligation.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Your family — anyone who joins your family in the app sees the family's baby logs and the shared check-in view. That is the point of the app.
- Anyone you send a Premium share link to — if you create a read-only link, holders of that link see a limited snapshot (baby name and age, today's feeds, diapers and sleep, the last-night recap, and the growth chart). Your notes and everything in the Us section are never included. You can revoke or regenerate the link at any time, which immediately breaks the old one.
- Service providers (subprocessors) — our hosting, database, authentication and error-logging providers, and the AI provider that generates AI summaries and insights at the moment you request them.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of Premium: payments, invoicing, tax compliance and refunds. Paddle collects your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities, where required by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers operate outside the UK and EEA. Where data is transferred out, we rely on adequacy decisions or on Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate supplementary safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and log data for as long as your account exists, because the value of the app is the history. Technical and error logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 90 days). Transaction records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.
You can permanently delete your baby's profile, every log, both parents' accounts and everything else yourself from Settings → Delete my data. That deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Your rights
Subject to local law, you can ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, or provide it in a portable format, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email admin@thelittlelog.com and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA and you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data: encryption in transit, access controls so that a family's data is only readable by that family, hashed passwords, and least-privilege access for administrative operations. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Cookies and local storage
We use only essential cookies and browser storage — to keep you signed in and to remember basic app preferences. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Our payment provider may set cookies needed to complete a checkout. You can clear this storage in your browser at any time, though you will then need to sign in again.
Changes and contact
If we make a material change to this notice we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Contact us at admin@thelittlelog.com. See also our Terms and Refund Policy.
